Signing & payment

nudge handles signing and payment on the same link your customer opens. They review the quote, sign, and pay in one place — no account required.

How signing works

When you send a quote, your customer gets a secure link by SMS or email. They open it, review the contents, and sign directly on the page. You are notified the moment they sign or pay.

Set up payments

To accept card payments, connect your account to Stripe. Open Settings → Payments and choose Set up with Stripe. You will verify your business identity and connect a bank account through Stripe. Setup takes about 5 minutes if you have your EIN or SSN and bank details ready.

Manual payments

You can log payments you collect another way — cash, check, or a card taken elsewhere — with the Record payment button on the quote details page. The quote must be signed before you can log a payment.

If QuickBooks is connected, manual payments flow into QuickBooks along with your online payments.

Getting paid

After a customer pays, Stripe transfers the money to your bank on a 2-day rolling schedule by default. You can adjust the payout schedule in your Stripe Express dashboard.

What it costs

Stripe charges 2.9% plus $0.30 per card transaction in the United States. Bank payments (ACH) cost 0.8%, capped at $5.00 per transaction. nudge does not add a fee on top.

Refunds, disputes, and tax

You handle these directly. Refunds are issued from your Stripe Express dashboard. Stripe emails you when a dispute is filed, and you respond there with evidence. Sales tax is yours to calculate, collect, and remit — add it as a line item on the quote when it applies.

What your customer sees

After signing, the customer sees a Pay Now button on the same page. Tapping it opens a Stripe-hosted checkout for the agreed amount. When the payment succeeds, both you and the customer get an emailed branded receipt, and the quote flips to either deposit paid or Paid in full. Apple Pay and Google Pay appear automatically based on the device; cards work everywhere.

Bank transfers are the exception: they are confirmed right away but take a few business days to clear. The quote sits at Payment clearing in the meantime, both of you get an email confirming the payment was submitted, and the receipt follows once the money actually lands.
